Our Pledge to You

Our Fundraising team is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care to our supporters, without whom MSF's work would not be possible.

Your ongoing support enables MSF to reach more people in need, respond faster in emergencies, broaden the range of medical services we provide, and improve the quality of our medical care.

Financial independence provided by your donations allows MSF to:

Choose freely where to intervene based on medical needs alone

Intervene quickly in emergency situations, regardless of political concerns or media coverage

Decline government funding that would compromise the ability to run effective programmes or funds from parties involved in the crisis

Commit resources and teams to innovative new projects, for example, MSF was able to treat patients living with HIV/AIDS with antiretroviral medicines long before governments started allocating funding for treatment

As part of our promise to you:

We will not send you constant appeals or share your personal data with other organisations. We are also careful about using other forms of communications such as the telephone, and are currently looking at ways we can adapt our mailings to suit your needs.

We bring our supporters closer to the reality and challenges of our work through our mailings and publications. Our information and first-hand accounts come directly from our field staff.

We make every effort to respond quickly to questions about MSF's work and your support. We welcome your interest and will always strive to answer your query, however complex.

We respect your wishes if you decide to designate your donation to a particular area of our work, and we would be delighted to discuss this with you.

We strive to keep administration costs to a minimum. We send 81% of donations to our work in the field. Click here to see more details on how we spend donations.

We safeguard the security of your personal data and ensure that your transactions are secure.

We constantly evaluate our work and welcome feedback, ideas and suggestions on how we can improve our service to supporters. If you have any thoughts on how we can improve, or would like to share your experience of supporting MSF, please contact us.

Data Protection

We respect and value every one of our supporters. We won't allow any other organisation to have access to your name and address except for the sole purpose of processing a donation.

Our quarterly newsletter, Dispatches, is sent to our volunteer doctors, nurses, logistics experts and supporters. We hope that you will want to stay in touch with our work, but if you prefer not to receive Dispatches or any other updates from the field by email or post, please let us know.

To ensure your donation is always acknowledged and processed smoothly, MSF - Ireland has a trusted partnership with an established fundraising agency based in County Cork, which records and processes all donations made to MSF. MSF Ireland works with this external partner to ensure security for donations from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

“Today we struggle as an imperfect movement, but strong in our volunteers and national staff, and with millions of donors who support both financially and morally, the project that is MSF.”

-Dr James Orbinski, former President of the MSF International Council accepting the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of MSF in 1999
