MSF Handbooks and Field Research

Over the years MSF has produced a collection of useful handbooks and reference books including 'Clinical Guidelines: Diagnostic and Treatment Manual'; 'Refugee Health in Emergency Situations'; 'Management of a Measles Epidemic'; and 'Obstetrics in Remote Settings'  For anyone interested in working with MSF in the future, these handbooks are well worth a read.  They can be downloaded in pdf format free of charge or purchased in hardcopy from the MSF Reference Books website.

MSF has also produced important research based on its field experience with vulnerable populations. Its studies have been published in over 90 peer-reviewed journals and have often changed clinical practice and been used for humanitarian advocacy. This website archives MSF's scientific articles and makes them available free, with full text, and in an easily searchable format.

In the field, MSF doctors are constantly frustrated by the lack of adequate medical tools. In response, MSF set up the MSF Access Campaign in 1999 to improve access to existing medical tools and to stimulate the development of urgently needed better tools. For nearly 40 years, MSF has directly witnessed the human cost of the lack of drugs for neglected diseases and has raised its voice against this inequity. In 2003, seven organisations from around the world joined forces to establish DNDi, Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative.
