Application Process
Thank you for your interest in working with MSF in one of our overseas projects. To respond immediately to disasters, MSF keeps a register of volunteers available to work in the field. Selection of individuals for the MSF register involves the following process:
Recruitment Process Application
If you feel that you meet our specific requirements you can complete the application form online by clicking here.
If for any reason you are unable to apply online, please contact us at: recruitment [at] dublin [dot] msf [dot] org
Please be aware that all applications are reviewed on monthly basis, so we will respond via email by the middle of the month following your application (eg. all January applicants will be contacted by mid-February). However, delays can be caused by high numbers of applicants, so please do contact us at recruitment [at] dublin [dot] msf [dot] org if you have not heard back from us by this time.
Interview (including screening process)
You will be invited to attend an interview at the MSF Ireland Office if we think that your skills and experience match our requirements. Before your actual interview, you will be asked to complete and return a pre-interview questionnaire. The interview will last for approximately one hour. You will be expected to bring the following documents: 4 passport photos, your valid passport, current proof of address (utility bill/bank statement from the last three months), any relevant certificates and diplomas (originals only please), your driving licence (if you have one) and a list of the addresses you have lived at for the last five years. Applicants for some positions will be required to take a technical test.
Acceptance onto MSF Register
MSF's register is a database of people available for deployment. Following a successful interview you will be accepted onto the MSF register and you will be asked to provide two satisfactory professional references, one of which will need to be from your current/most recent employer.
Please note that all applicants provisionally selected for the MSF register will be asked to complete an independently and legally verified disclosure form relating to any criminal records. This record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position with MSF.
Matching Process
A Human Resources Officer will provide you with job descriptions and vacancy information and help match you to a position in the field. You will need to be clear about your availability and must inform us of any changes to prevent delays in the process of matching you to a field position. This is a competitive process as many people apply globally for a limited number of positions.
You will be asked to attend an Induction Day in our London offices. Please make this a priority as it has been designed to provide you with important information about MSF.
Once matched, it is likely you will be sent on a one-week preparation course. You will also have briefings in the Dublin or London office and, if appropriate, in the operational section prior to your departure to the field, followed by a full briefing on arrival in the field.
You will be employed on a fixed-term contract for the duration of your mission.
MSF is an equal opportunities employer. We value a diverse workforce and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
