Administrators and financial controllers are responsible for project book-keeping, budget control, financial reporting and human resources management for both international and local staff.  Cross-cultural human resources management and communications abilities are crucial for ensuring that the teams and the programmes run efficiently.  Most administrators and financial controllers are based in the capital cities of countries where MSF has programmes, although staff may make regular visits to the field projects.

Basic Requirements: 
  • Commitment to the aims and values of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)
  • Minimum two years of significant and relevant professional experience post-qualification
  • Demonstrated ability to work well as a part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in supervising, training and managing others
  • Flexibility and ability to cope with stress
  • Willingness to work in unstable environments
  • Minimum of 3 months' relevant travel or work experience in developing countries
  • Available to work in the field for a minimum of 12 months

MSF is always looking for people with language skills and at the moment we are particularly looking for field workers with good French.

You should meet all the basic as well as the essential requirements relevant to your profession before applying to MSF.

Essential Requirements: 

Demonstrable experience in one of the following areas:

  • Significant experience with accounting, budgeting, financial planning, financial control and financial reporting
  • Experience with human resources management -particularly line-management- and policy principles (preferably in a cross cultural context)
  • Ability to work as part of a senior management team, including project planning responsibilities
  • Good training and coaching skills -- minimum higher vocational level
Desirable Requirements: 
  • Knowledge of financial and reporting guidelines of major funding institutions
  • Ability to understand and function in different legal environments
