Logistician - Technical

As a technical logistician, you keep MSF's programmes running. You will be responsible for some or all of: restoring damaged hospitals; setting up feeding centres; organising the transport of vaccines; ensuring the project's power supply is reliable; or maintaining vehicles and communications systems. Logisticians have frequent interaction with local authorities and organisations and often oversee the implementation of security protocols.

In some cases the positions of technical logistician and administrative logistician are combined as all round logistician.

"Being responsible for supply basically requires me to deliver to the projects all materials, medical and logistical, that are required for its operations, be it a bar of soap that is bought on the local market or a measles vaccination that needs to be kept between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius all the way from source until injection into a patient in the Chadian outback"  Conor Prenderville, first-mission MSF logistician.  Read his blog here
