Medical Coordinator

Medical Coordinators are usually based in a country’s capital and support and manage the medical aspects of that country’s programmes, making regular visits to the project sites. Knowledge of tropical medicine, epidemiology, infectious diseases and disaster medicine are required. Applicants should have had a variety of experiences in the field.

Basic Requirements: 
  • Commitment to the aims and values of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)
  • Significant and relevant professional experience post-qualification
  • Demonstrated ability to work well as a part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in supervising, training and managing others
  • Flexibility and ability to cope with stress
  • Willingness to work in unstable environments
  • Minimum of 3 months' relevant travel or work experience in developing countries
  • Available to work in the field for a minimum of 12 months

MSF is always looking for people with language skills and at the moment we are particularly looking for field workers with good French.

You should meet all the basic as well as the essential requirements relevant to your profession before applying to MSF.

Essential Requirements: 
  • Medical background (doctor or nurse)
  • Post-registration experience in public health or tropical medicine (e.g. studies in infectious diseases (HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis), refugee health, MCH)
  • Overseas NGO experience in a supervisory role of medical programs as a project co-coordinator or medical team leader
  • Notable experience in project proposals and planning and health assessments
Desirable Requirements: 
  • Previous field experience with MSF
  • Training in epidemiology, refugee health care and/or the MSF PSP course
  • Familiarity with health and Human Rights issues
