Mediterranean crisis: Bourbon Argos rescue operations

The Bourbon Argos, the search and rescue MSF ship, rescued about 800 people during two different operations on the 26th of August.

  • A large wooden fishing boat in distress, with approximately 650 people on board;
  • A rubber boat assisted at Mayday after a Tunisian fishing boat assisting them, with approximately 150 people on board.

On board about 800 people, large majority from Syria – including many families with small children, but also people from Ivory Coast, Mali, Cameroon, Nigeria, Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Pakistan.
