If you want to raise money for Médecins Sans Frontières, but are stuck for ideas, then check out our A-Z of fundraising ideas (hyperlink). There you will find all the inspiration you need, from doing a sponsored walk to hosting your own event. It's fundraisers like you that help us deliver medical care where it's needed most.

Setting up a fundraising page on iDonate (hyperlink) is an easy way for your friends and family to sponsor you. The funds come directly to MSF, and unlike most competitors, iDonate does not charge a service fee, solely banking charges. It is usually our preferred form of donation page. Additionally, the iDonate support team is very responsive and while issues are rare, they are happy to support fundraisers in any way that they need.

If you have chosen to fundraise through iDonate, the funds will be automatically transferred to MSF. If you have fundraised by other means, then the easiest way to pay in your funds is by making a donation on our website.

Alternatively, you can make a donation over the phone by calling our offices on +353 (0)1 660 3337.

If the above options don't work for you, please send a cheque made payable to ‘MSF Ireland’ along with a covering letter to:

Médecins Sans Frontières Ireland, 9 Upper Baggot Street, Dublin 4

We'd be happy to share some of our MSF-branded materials to help with your fundraising. If you’d like to order some fundraising materials, please email fundraising@dublin.msf.org.

Ask your loved ones to donate the money they would have spent on a gift for you to MSF instead. The best way to do this is by setting up your fundraising on iDonate (hyperlink).

An online tribute page where friends and family can donate in memory of your loved one is a very special way to commemorate their life. It also provides an option for those who cannot be there on the day to leave a message of support and donate.

By selecting Médecins Sans Frontières as your charity on iDonate, the funds you collect will go straight to our medical work.

We can also provide donation envelopes to collect donations at the service. Donations can be made by card or cheque.

To order envelopes or for further support, please call our Supporter Care Team on +353 (0)1 660 3337 or email fundraising@dublin.msf.org.

For more information on tax efficient giving, please visit our page dedicated to explaining how you can ensure your gift goes even further here.

While every gift to MSF is gratefully received, the best way to help us respond in an emergency is with a residuary gift – a percentage of your estate after your loved ones have been considered and provided for.

Residuary gifts have the advantage over a specific sum of money, as inflation will not reduce their value over time.

Alternatively, you can choose to leave a pecuniary gift – a fixed amount of money.

You can find out more here (hyperlink: https://www.msf.ie/give-your-will).

Download our legacy leaflet (hyperlink on legacy leaflet https://www.msf.ie/sites/default/files/2024-07/MSF_Legacy_Giving_Leaflet.pdf ) if you’d like to discuss leaving a gift to MSF, please call +353 (0)1 660 3337 and ask to speak to our Supporter Care Team or email us at fundraising@dublin.msf.org.

Thank you for your support.

We don’t offer advice on how to word gifts in wills and do advise speaking to a solicitor to do this. For any gift, our registered address and charity number should be included:

Médecins Sans Frontières Ireland, 9 Upper Baggot Street, Dublin 4

Registered Revenue number: CHY18196

Registered Charity Number: 20069360

Download our legacy leaflet.

Unrestricted gifts give us more freedom to act.

We will endeavour to spend your money in an area of the world that is close to your heart, if that is what you wish. However, please understand that we are an emergency organisation and that we may no longer be needed in the country or project you have in mind. If we cannot fulfil a restriction criterion included in your will, your gift will fail.

A "Letter of Wishes" allows you to outline your desired restrictions. Please note that while these letters are not legally binding, they serve as a valuable reference for us to understand and respect your intentions.

We advise you to see a solicitor to help you draw up your will. You can find a local solicitor on the Law Society website under 'Wills, Trusts and Probate'.

Find a solicitor with The Law Society of Ireland (hyperlink: https://www.lawsociety.ie/Find-a-Solicitor/Solicitor-Firm-Search/)

Please call us on +353 (0)1 660 3337 and ask to speak to the Supporter Care Team or email us at office@dublin.msf.org.

MSF Ireland does not offer a free will writing service.

Research undertaken with MSF supporter focus groups found that a free will writing service was not favoured. Our supporters have told us that we should minimise our fundraising costs and shouldn't use their donations to offer a free will writing service.

We advise you to see a solicitor to help you draw up your will. You can find a local solicitor on the Law Society of Ireland website

Money donated to MSF is directed to crises wherever the need is greatest – this is coordinated across 23 offices and our projects in 90 countries around the world.

Funds meant for the frontline of a humanitarian emergency are never spent on international admin. However, there are essential running costs for any organisation, and a very small percentage is spent in Ireland.

For every €1 donated to MSF Ireland

80.2% goes directly to medical projects around the world.

15% is reinvested in future fundraising.

Just 4.8% is spent on Irish running costs.

Each aspect of the way we operate from our Dublin office is designed to keep these essential costs low. We rent an inexpensive office, take the lowest fares for travel and stay in budget accommodation when working abroad.

MSF is unable to accept donations of medical supplies or equipment.

MSF's ability to provide effective medical services depends on our established logistics set-up which allows our medical teams to accurately forecast, and request specific quantities of items required - reducing wastage and our transport footprint. We are also bound by the import regulations of the countries we work in which often require certificates of origin, batch testing and manufacturers' consent to import.
