MSF Month in Focus: October 2017

Take a look at some our work across the world this past month.

In 1998, MSF formally recognised the need to implement mental health and psychosocial interventions as part of our emergency work. Today, we have 143 mental health projects across 49 countries.

To mark World Mental Health Day this year on 10 October, and show the breadth of our mental health responses, we looked at Bangladesh, Colombia and Congo.

Bangladesh: "Now I am inspiring others"

Violence at home can have a devastating impact on mental health. In Dhaka's Kamrangirchar slum, MSF counsellors are helping women to cope.

Congo: "We share their trauma"

The theme of World Mental Health Day this year is 'mental health in the workplace'.

Many of our staff in Democratic Republic of Congo are living through the same trauma as their patients, and know all too well the benefits that mental healthcare provides.

Colombia: "I always expected the 'boom' of grenades"

Despite the Colombian government and the FARC reaching a peace accord in 2016, the residents of Tumaco are still coming to terms with the psychological impact of the violence.
