15 Mar 10

March 15th, 2010- About 6,000 people have arrived at the Kutupalong makeshift camp in southern Bangladesh since a violent crackdown on stateless Rohingya people began in October 2009.

They've joined tens of thousands of Rohingya already living here on a crowded piece of land next to an official UN refugee camp to which they have no access.

These new residents have said they were driven from their homes in the Cox's Bazar area by local authorities and residents. Many were victims of beatings and harassment.
