Limerick Event: Ebola – Fighting one of the world’s deadliest diseases

MSF would like to invite you to hear about our response to the ongoing Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the second deadliest Ebola outbreak in history. Over 3,000 people have contracted the virus and over 2,000 people have died.

More than a year since the epidemic was declared, it is still not under control. There is deep community mistrust in the area, reflecting the wider response’s failure to engage with the local population.

Dr Carrie Garavan, of MSF and the University of Limerick, has just returned from DRC, her fifth assignment fighting Ebola. Please join us to hear first-hand about how MSF responds to this deadly disease and of the unique challenges that make this outbreak so difficult to contain.

 Thursday 17 October at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.
